Engineers for Analyses of Offshore Flexible Pipe Systems
NOV Flexibles continues its successful growth and for the expanding operation in Superporto do Açu, near São João da Barra we are seeking Design Engineers for the Engineering Department.
As Design Engineer, you will have a key role in deep water projects and your work will include design and optimization of offshore flexible pipe systems using FE software.
You will have or obtain specialist skills in complex analyses on flexible pipe systems and obtain an understanding of the wide span of engineering disciplines involved.
A part of the mentoring programme will include a training program in Denmark in 2012.
Primary tasks
Contribute as project team member with the specialist knowledge on flexible pipe and on how offshore structures respond to environmental loading e.g. from waves and current
Perform 3D time-domain FE analyses of global response of flexible pipe systems
Perform local stress and fatigue analyses FE software.
Reporting of analyses to clients
Handling of technical issues and interfaces with the project team
Provide design input to purchase specifications for subcontractors
Ongoing dialogue with project team, clients and production as well as NKT Flexibles in Denmark.
Knowledge of Orcaflex or Flexcom
Your qualifications
You may have a background as M.Sc. in Naval Architect, Ocean Engineering, Structural, Civil, Mechanical
You preferably have some understanding of numerical modeling, strength of materials, fatigue and materials science
You have a strong understanding of applying physics to practical problems
Good communication skills in English both orally and in writing
You take pride in a well-executed project
